The vital monitor is as much a part of my life as brushing my teeth!
This is how it all began
Me, my company STEP Lochen and the Vitalmonitor - a story of illness, self-reflection and overcoming supposed limits.
My name is Robert Schimmerl. I work as a sports therapist in my own company STEP Lochen. My professional and personal path led me through an apprenticeship as a carpenter, serious illnesses and physical ailments, extraordinary successes, setbacks and meanwhile to a balanced, symptom-free and healthy life. I would like to tell you here what role the personal attitude and the Vitalmonitor play in my life!
For a long time, nothing really went right for me health-wise. At the age of 14, I had massive problems with my knees. It was difficult to bend them and it was very painful. A few years later, at the age of 19, I had a double herniated disc. The diagnosis of the doctors who treated me: sport and I go separate ways from now on. For me, however, sport is part of my path. That's why it was time to find alternative paths early on.
Exploit all possibilities
The options offered by the regional health insurance were simply not enough for me. I didn't want to leave any stone unturned, so I started looking for other therapy options myself in order to exhaust all potentials. The first successes were achieved.
A few years later, it really threw me for a loop. I was hospitalized with renal colic. Further examinations revealed that I had a growth on my parathyroid gland. This growth had to be examined under suspicion of bone cancer. In the meantime, my body had stopped producing calcium, which would have dire consequences. Because: no calcium = no heartbeat. After about 10 days, my body successfully produced calcium again. Fortunately for me, the growth did not have any cancer cells in it.
I was very concerned about my life and had to change something. In this context, Berny and the Vital Monitor came to my mind again. Although I knew that I had problems with my heart, I could not accept that I should not do sports. I am really glad to use the Vitalmonitor. The Vitalmonitor has managed to give me back my attitude towards life and to develop myself further in sports.
A profession as a vocation
That was also the point where I decided to change my life professionally.
With my company STEP Lochen I have found my professional but above all personal way. STEP offers training and therapy for everyone, with a team that is committed to individuality and empathy. My personal path of suffering has helped me enormously. I know stress, imbalance, injuries and physical warning signals from my own experience. I think that this is also a part of our success, that we pick up our customers where they are in their current life situation and then advise and treat them professionally. The vital monitor plays an important role in this.
Sporting goals with the Vitalmonitor
The Ironman was always something unattainable for me. Also psychologically I was never in this mental condition like now to achieve things and today I know that I can achieve everything. Sometimes you just have to be at the bottom of the barrel to say "What could be worse, it really can't get any worse!"
My coach Berny is coaching me for my goal of the Ironman. I have given up many things at work, which I would otherwise have worried about a lot at home. Before, I was sort of taking care of myself, since I'm a coach myself, but it's often the case that you put your training on the back burner. Even though I know a lot, in my opinion you can't train yourself because you don't use your potential well. I have also changed my professional situation so that I always have at least 1-2 hours a day. But also my private environment has changed. My wife is 100% behind me and my project. She also uses the Vitalmonitor in the meantime. My biological age was 80 years at the beginning and now it is 45 years. Due to my clinical picture, however, it is not known whether it would go down even further. For my situation, this performance is really excellent.
The vital monitor is always with me!
I wouldn't give up the vital monitor. It's as much a part of my life as brushing my teeth. There is not a day when I don't take a measurement. Often I can tell before the measurement what the results should look like. You can take so much out of the data that the vital monitor provides, which is why it is indispensable for me.
